  • 2 hours
  • We designed "New Youth" with our younger and newer students in mind.  The format is the same as our current "Youth" (shown to the right) except that we  have abridged some of the most challenging exercises.  Our focus on introducing students to our facility and the art mediums we offer including vine charcoal, colored pencils, oil pastel, chalk pastel, tempera, water color, and the creative art apps on our iPads.
  • Every week students are introduced to a new fundamental skill, technique, theory or principle including measuring techniques, direct light, linear perspective, cartooning and many many more.  We teach perceptive skills, to draw what we see, and cartooning skills, to draw from memory and/or imagination.  We visit students at their easel during the exercises and creative time in class.
  • With supervision, we provide 3 different versions of the Camera Lucida for drawing.
  • The class is taught by Diane Roth.  Diane has a degrees in Illustration and industrial design from RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology), and is one of my full time oil painting students.   Diane will be assisted by Jiani Shaw.  Jiani is studying psychology at Miami University and has been a full time student here for almost 4 years.
